TOEIC Listening Part 4: Tips for Taking Notes While Listening

TOEIC Listening Part 4 (Talks) contains a large amount of information and is spoken at a fast speed, so many test takers forget the content after listening.

Here are three recommended techniques:

1. Predict where the answers will appear: Before the audio starts, quickly read the questions and mark the question words (Who / What / When / Where / Why / How) to clarify what you need to listen for.

2. Use abbreviations and symbols: You do not need to write full words. For example, write “Monday → M,” “increased → ↑,” and “decreased → ↓.”

3. Follow the order principle: The order of the questions matches the order of the audio. Once you hear the answer to Question 1, immediately prepare for Question 2.
