IELTS Speaking Part 2: Tips for Speaking Easily for 2 Minutes

2026-06-10 13:30

The biggest challenge in IELTS Speaking Part 2 is not “not being able to speak,” but “not being able to speak for long enough.” Many candidates finish the basic content and then spend the remaining minute just waiting for time to pass.

Here is a useful technique: expand your answer using the “WH Question Method” — think about Who, When, Why, and How.

For example, if the topic is “Describe a trip,” after mentioning the destination and time, you can further expand: Why did you choose that place? Who did you go with? Did anything interesting happen during the trip?

In C-Tyme English IELTS one-on-one courses, we provide speaking mock tests and sentence-by-sentence feedback.
